A psychiatrist is a physician that specializes in psychiatry - the branch of medicine that deals with the study and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. A psychologist is a physician that specializes in psychology. Psychology is the branch of medicine that deals with the study and treatment of behavior.
Some psychiatrists and psychologists also have a specialty interest (sub-specialty) and focus their practice on certain areas of psychiatry or psychology. Therefore, when you visit our sites look at the specialty areas of the office practice to make sure there is someone in the practice that specializes in the type of medical care you are seeking. If you find a physician in your area that does not specialize in the type of medical care you are seeking, they will probably be happy to refer you to someone that can help you.
